The Arts University College At Bournemouth

Best Location for Student Accommodation:

Winton

Winton is one of the most popular areas for students with the majority renting a house in their second year here.  Winton is a sought after location and is highly recommended for students due to the shops, restaurants and pubs on the High Street.

Charminster

Charminster is a good location if you ideally want to be the same distance from university and town. Charminster is 25-30 minutes from uni and about 20-25 minutes to Bournemouth city Centre.  Charminster is smaller than Winton but again as a High Street with a few shops and bars/pubs as well as a good range of student housing.

Bournemouth City Centre/the Triangle

Rent levels are slightly higher in town but good transport links to University and other surrounding areas of Bournemouth are the reason some choose to live there.

Average Rent:

Average rent tends to be about £60.00-£200.00 pp. PW for a 3-4 bedroom house.

Car Parking and Permit Information:

Most student lets in the Winton and Charminster area tend to have car parking available on the road outside the house and some even have drives but generally wherever students live, they have plenty of parking available.

Living in Bournemouth:

AUCB is a specialist institution within the UK, which only specialises in design, art and Media.  With there only being 15 institutions, which specialise in arts, students will benefit from a professional environment with great opportunities.  There are a variety of sports, societies and clubs that students at AUCB can get involved in.  The university is within close proximity to Bournemouth University and therefore some clubs have the benefit of using Bournemouth University facilities.Sports include rugby, football, basketball and badminton.  There are also a number of clubs that you can get involved with which may complement your study and these include life drawing and arts and crafts societies.

Bournemouth is a long-established tourist destination; with its mix of sandy beaches and the diverse nightlife and social scene many students tend to stay in Bournemouth once they graduate. There is something for everyone whether you enjoy water sports or just enjoy a spot of shopping in the centre.
In the heart of Bournemouth the BIC, Pier Theatre and Pavilion are located where musicians and comedians perform throughout the year.  Whether you prefer to go for a walk along the beach or hit the water there are a number of sporting options open to everyone!

Poole is located approx. 4 miles from Bournemouth and is close to Sandbanks, which is one of the most famous real estate areas. Here you can enjoy relaxing walks along the beach and glance at the luxurious houses and apartments.  Poole Quay is  a very popular harbour where you can go on ferry rides to explore the surrounding areas such as Brownsea Island and Sandbanks.

Nightlife in Bournemouth is diverse and there are events and social venues to go to every night of the week.  The majority of clubs are located in the same area, in the heart of the city centre.  Popular social venues include Lava Ignite, V Club, Kukui and Chilli White.  However, this is only a small selection of the clubs in Bournemouth.  There are no set student nights as there are student nights on at various clubs every night of the week from Monday to Sunday.

Bournemouth city centre is the central location of shopping facilities with a number of popular High Street stores in combination with a number of independent shops dotted between.  Castlepoint is a shopping centre located about ten minutes from the city centre and it has a number of shops, supermarkets and restaurants.  Further afield you can visit the Dolphin Shopping Centre at Poole and even travel to Southampton to experience West Quay.
