University of The West of Scotland Hamilton Campus
Best Locations for Student Accommodation
- Glasgow (but you’ll have to commute)
The average rent for a student room in Hamilton is £60 to £70 a week.
The University campus is located just 11 miles south of Glasgow and there are good transport links both between Hamilton and Glasgow and the local area with the rest of England.
Living in the area
Hamilton offers a stimulating and supportive environment with excellent facilities and services to cater for the 4,500 students studying full and part-time at the university.
On campus, the main building Almada contains the library, sports and leisure centre, students’ union shop, refectory and café and student services. The Caird building is home to the simulated wards and an additional refectory.
Hamilton is fairly big as towns go and there is a decent selection of pubs to visit. Mavrix, the Tap Room, ML3+ and Bar West are popular and there are some decent older-type pubs near the Palace Nightclub, which can be quite good on certain nights.
