Transport:

Bolton is near Manchester and is therefore close to Manchester  airport.  The location of Bolton is central to a number of main motorways for access to other major cities across the UK.  The university’s campus is approximately ten minutes from the town centre and therefore the majority of students either walk or cycle.

Parking and Permit Information:

Parking permits are generally not needed in many areas of Bolton, as there tends to be a number of areas for free parking near the majority of properties.  Currently the only area where a resident parking permit is required is in Dorset Street Area, Marsden Street Area and Mill Street in Westhoughton.  Furthermore, parking in the city centre of Bolton is relatively easy due to a number of short and long stay car parks.

Living in Bolton:

The University of Bolton is central to the energetic town of Bolton in Greater Manchester. Bolton is a lively city and is home to  facilities  which were used for the Commonwealth Games.  Bolton is located very closely to the thriving cities of Manchester and Liverpool, but is also only an hour away from the Lake District.

The town of Bolton has a number of restaurants, pub and clubs for students to enjoy outside of the campus. 

There is an assortment of clubs and societies where students can get involved with and meet new people.  Also, there are  recreational and competitive sports activities the students can get involved with from Snowboarding to Water sports.  The Pennines are located on the outskirts of Bolton and are perfect to go and visit to go walking, kayaking or even horse riding.

Bolton has a variety of nightlife for students to explore and enjoy.  Some of the more popular clubs in Bolton include the J2 Bar Nightclub, Club Indiego and Ikon nightclub.  In combination with these there are a range of trendy bars, lounge bars and pubs located around Bradshawgate and Nelson Square.

Shopping in this north west city is extensive with a range of different facilities.  Market Place, Crompton Place and St Andrews Court are the most popular shopping locations in the centre of Bolton as they have a number of well known High Street names.  If you want to experience something completely different, The Gallery is located on Daisy Hill and offers you the chance to browse local art or you could visit the award winning Bolton Market.  Lastly, if you can’t find what you need in Bolton, you can go and experience the Trafford centre and the delights of Manchester.
