Living in the Area
Transport
Ormskirk town centre is easily accessible by direct trains from both Liverpool and Preston and there are frequent buses between Ormskirk and Liverpool, Southport and Wigan. The Edge Link bus service operates every fifteen minutes and runs between the university and Ormskirk town centre and you can obtain a free bus pass for these services.
Local Shops
Ormskirk has plenty of high street names alongside smaller specialist shops offering everything from designer fashions to furniture and of course, fast food outlets, the staple diet for students. Books, art and craft supplies for many courses can be ordered through local suppliers if not already in stock. More serious shoppers will enjoy wandering through the Church Walks development and the Two Saints retail centre, while the open-air market every Thursday and Saturday is well worth a visit and creates a vibrant atmosphere in the town each week
Nightlife
The Styles and Disraeli’s bars in Ormskirk are favourites of students and Arriba is a popular nightclub. The Students Union arrange regular trips to nightclubs around the North West and many students head to Liverpool for the famous nightlife of Concert Square, Mathew Street and the Albert Dock. The pubs and clubs of Southport, Wigan and Preston are also in easy reach.
