Lancaster is one of the cheaper cities in the UK for students to live and the average rent tends is between £65.00-£75.00 pp pw.
Bus services in and around Lancaster are both frequent and excellent value. You are able to access the Uni from all parts of the city.
Excellent transport links allow great connections to a number of cities across the UK. Lancaster has its own railway station. However, the closest airports are Manchester and Liverpool, which are both approximately 90 minutes from Lancaster.
Car Parking and Permit Information:
Permits are available from the local council and if you require a permit to park at University this can be applied for via the Universities website.
Living in Lancaster
The Beautiful Historic City of Lancaster is a very popular student City, with a vivacious City life and Georgian culture. There is plenty to explore and get involved with in the City. There are a number of areas outside of the City to explore like the beautiful areas of Morecambe and Lune Valley.
It takes ten minutes by bus to the City Centre so whatever time of the day or night it is easy to get into town for your entertainment.
The City itself has a mixture of museums, galleries, shops, bars and restaurants and caters to a diverse range of tastes.
Shopping in Lancaster offers a number of shopping centres, Arndale Shopping Centre, Marketplace Shopping Centre and St Nicholas Arcades. Within these shopping locations there is a combination of high street stores coupled with Boutiques and Independent run businesses.
Nightlife in Lancaster is vivacious combined with the cultural entertainment that compliments the City’s wealth. There are a range of clubs for students located both in Lancaster and Morecambe. Some of the most popular include Liquid and Feel@Revolution. The location of pubs, bars and clubs are spread across the City however there are a range of locations in North Road.
Nightlife in Lancaster not only offers energy but culture. There are regular theatre performances at the Black Box Theatre, Dukes Playhouse, Grand Theatre and the University’s own theatre, The Nuffield Theatre
