Living in the area
At Trent Park, the nearest tube is Oakwood (Piccadilly Line). You can walk from there, but be careful during darkness. There is a university-provided shuttle bus, which gets very crowded at peak hours. Buses 121, 307 or 377 also go to Oakwood Tube station. The closest national rail stations are New Barnet or Enfield Chase. At Cat Hill the nearest tube is Cockfosters (Piccadilly Line) or Southgate. The 289 and 299 buses provide an alternative to walking to campus. New Barnet station is the closest National Rail station. Bus 307 will take you close to the campus and the 143 runs past the Hendon campus.
As a student you are eligible for discounts on local services and it is well worth obtaining a student Oyster card as it is likely you will be a regular user of public transport. These cost just £5 and can save you up to 30% on your travel expenses.

Even with student discounts, public transport may be a killer on your bank account and so, if you haven’t already, it may well be worth getting hold of a bike as it can be a very cheap way to travel.
Cat Hills and Trents Park campuses have some shops, but these are quite limited offering stationary and snacks and there are also a number of university book shops on campus as well. However, you can take a shuttle bus from Trent Park to the station where you can access shops in Enfield, which are much better. Hendon is located centrally just a short walk from campus which means you are surrounded by a variety of shops and supermarkets, providing alternatives to campus food.
Cafes and snack bars can be found around all the campuses, but Hendon is the best area if you’re after a decent meal, being quite centrally located.
The most popular locations are Hendon and Trent Park, which feature a buzzing night life including live music and many other events.
