Average Rent:

Winchester is an expensive city and so the average rent tends to be higher in comparison to other cities across the UK. The average rent for a room in the area is £80.00-£105.00 per week.

Winchester has a railway station with direct services to London,Birmingham and other major cities. As Winchester is small city with the university located centrally a bike is a great cheap way to get about, although parts of student letting land is hilly. Still a good way to keep fit or shake off that hangover. There are lots of secure places both at uni and in the city to leave your bike but dont forget to get a padlock.

Parking and Permit Information:

The city has a number of mini parking zones which require permits and application forms are available from the Winchester council website. A great number of student lets have driveway parking or off road parking so it is worth checking the zone areas and costs.

Living in Winchester:

Most shops in Winchester are located in the heart of the city where there are a small number of popular high street stores, but with Southampton so close real shopaholics can visit West Quay which offers an extortionate number of shops in an indoor shopping centre.

Winchester is an upmarket city with a number of bars located in the centre and two nightclubs called Bar Bone and Porterhouse. Most students will not want to miss the popular “Bop” which is held every Wednesday in the student Union.
